Technology

There's nothing like an afternoon with your grandchildren to make you feel old and out of touch!

My seven-year-old grandson came over with his mum yesterday and he is a delight, bright as a button! He was telling me all about his new games console which has some sort of technology to make the games 3D without you wearing glasses or anything.

It was quite impressive, and he knew so much about it and was trying to teach me about how it all works and the R4 3DS game that he uses, such a bright spark he is!

I could keep up with him, I always want to keep up with everything but this was pretty impressive stuff, technology has developed so much it's really quite remarkable. And there's probably way more amazing things these companies sre developing still.

No Junk Mail Please!

I signed up to the mailing list of a website that had been helping me get to grips with my new digital camera, but am now regretting it.

I wanted to make sure I was making the most of the camera's features and the site has been pretty helpful in giving me advice. But what's annoying, is now I'm getting inundated with emails about all sorts of things that I don't need, and most certainly didn't ask for! What do I want with a 3d tutorial or an airbrushing workshop?

Now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to stop the blasted emails, I don't want to mark them all as spam as some of them are relevant to me, but I can't find any way to filter the content I receive from my account on the site. I'm probably going to have to contact them - cheeky lot sending me all this stuff!

Digital Camera Issues

My lovely daughter bought me a tiny little digital camera for my birthday and I've only just gotten around to looking at it, but I can't get it to work!

I'm far from being a complete technophobe, but I can't figure out how to actually take a picture with the blasted thing! I can turn it on, change the settings and zoom in and out no problem, but whenever I try to take a picture it comes up with a message saying I need to insert an sd memory card - shouldn't that already be in it? Surely the camera should just be ready to shoot when you get it shouldn't it? Do I need to buy something separate?

If it's this complicated I really don't understand why we don't still just use film, with film cameras you just press the shutter button and it takes the picture - end of story!

Gardening SOS

My garden is quite frankly, rubbish. We used to love it out there, we tended the plants, kept everything clean, put the furniture away in the shed when the rain came, but we stopped caring somewhere along the way.

We went to visit my cousin in Hertfordshire this week and ate dinner outside in her back garden, something I never thought I'd enjoy, but it was delightful! Her garden was so well kept, that it made me feel very guilty for how bad we've let ours get.

Our metal garden furniture is probably well-rusted by now, some of the plants are still going strong but most of the shrubs have died, and there are weeds plaguing the whole yard.

I'm thinking of paying some students to do it up for me, I might put an ad in a local shop. I don't know how expensive gardeners are any more, does anyone know?
